Noise Problems in Cubase

I tried to do my first recording with cubase yesterday, but the following problem appeared. The higher notes are causing a strange crackling/scratching noise in Cubase. Especially the choirs sound terrible in higher tunes because of this crackling. Did anyone of you experience this? Or can anyone help me please? Thanx in Advance. Max

You have to make sure that the combined volume of the audio tracks does not exceed the 0db (maybe you know this, but just to make sure). Otherwise you get all kinds of distortion. Note that also applying effects to the track can be the cause of a too high volume level.
Another very simple reason can be that your speakers can't handle the higher tones. Did you check if the problem also exists with headphones for instance? (I know, sounds stupid, but most of the time problems have very simple and stupid causes )
And if that all doesn't work: experiment with the latency value (increase the latency).
